Job Summary

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining the stock levels in the studios at Folsom, CA and Roseville, CA.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Place inventory orders for studios. Maintain minimum order levels for staple items.  Weekly and seasonal reports on top sellers vs top profit items.  Maintain accurate inventory counts and train staff on data entry for items and supplies.  Track customer requests and and special orders.
  • Display Stock. When tracking top sellers/profit items, it is important that the stock is placed correctly on the shelves for maximum customer interest.  May require diagrams of displays, especially seasonal displays. Monitors samples and makes suggestions for which items need an associated painted sample.
  • Pricing.  This position will use pricing formulas to markup items for resale. Working with the Manager and Owner for recommendations on pricing. Enter pricing and other product information into the point of sale computer system.
  • Loss prevention. Report to vendors any order breakages.  Track any issues out of the kiln, including which items are hard to stilt.  Works closely with managers, stuff and glazers to collect feedback on stock and products.  
  • Inventory Count and reporting. A full inventory count and reporting is due to the owner monthly and at the end of the Fiscal Year.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Computer data entry and math. Heavy utilization of excel, point of sale computer system and customer relationship management system as well as vendor online ordering systems.  Computer skills are a must.
  • Budgeting and smart purchasing. Studio purchases are based on sales volumes. This position is essential to the cash flow of the studios. The goal is to have no inventory in the back (wasted cash!).
  • Flexible Hours.  Must be able to stock at the right time for our customers needs. This takes place before we open our doors or when closing and getting ready for the next day.  This could be on Mondays during the summer, on Fridays during the Spring, or nearly full-time during the Christmas season.  
  • Driving. While this position will be great at planning, their may be a need to pickup orders at the local vendors warehouse for delivery to studios.


  • Ability to be mobile in the stockroom or on sales floor for extended periods of time
  • Proven ability to operate and read scanning equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry medium-to-large items, weighing up to 100 lbs., utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
